2017 State Fair Superstars the Gasoline Gypsies have teamed up with members of the Michigan State Fair Choir to record a beautiful new version of the Gypsies song, Robin Redbreast, also including Jason Charboneau on cello. Robin Redbreast is the official State Fair Superstar song for 2018, which all finalists will perform at the Fair on Labor Day Weekend.

The annual Monday MegaJam, a celebration of Michigan songwriters, has an exciting new presenting partner, Three Chord Bourbon, a new bourbon produced in Michigan, and just launched in June statewide. Three Chord is a collaborative effort led by multiple Grammy Award winning musician, producer and film composer Neil Giraldo. Giraldo has worked with some of the greatest artists in popular music, including Pat Benatar, John Waite, Rick Derringer, Kenny Loggins and many more.
1849 Michigan State Fairgrounds Cornerstone to find new home at the Suburban Collection Showplace, Novi

On Friday, September 1, at 9:00 am, a treasured relic from the original Michigan State Fair will
find a new resting place, and be celebrated by the Michigan Agricultural Community with a breakfast and reception, to welcome it to a new home at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, as part of the new 175,000 square foot facility expansion now under construction. This celebration will also incorporate placing a new cornerstone for the expansion project. The massive, 7-foot wide, 3-foot tall State Fair cornerstone, featuring a blue marble ribbon flowing across the surface, was created in 1849 for the Administration Building at the Michigan State Fairgrounds at Eight Mile and Woodward Ave. The welcoming reception takes place during the second day of the 2017 Michigan State Fair, presented by Ram Truck.

offered thanks and special recognition for the role of the Fair in supporting and celebrating Michigan Agriculture, products and youth initiatives across the state.

Fair skies and perfect weather helped boost attendance for the 2016 Fifth Third Bank Michigan State Fair, which posted significant gains in attendance, with more than 151,000 folks enjoying the expansive fairgrounds at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. The 35% overall increase in attendance was bolstered by much larger crowds each day of the four day event, as thousands of Michigan families enjoyed the larger Arnold Amusements Midway, presented by Chrysler Pacifica, along with the Ram Truck Test Drive Experience, Honda ATV Test Track, plus larger Shrine Circus, that all spread across the acreage adjacent to the Suburban Collection Showplace. Inside the show hall, livestock, home arts and agriculture exhibit participation also expanded for the 2016 Michigan State Fair, LLC.

The second annual State Fair Superstar Contest anchors live musical entertainment at the
State Fair in 2016, sponsored by Pepsi-Cola! This wildly popular feature of the Fair debuted in 2014 with more than 70 entrants, with the Grand Prize awarded to Alison Albrecht, 14, of Novi. The Superstar contest offers a purely Michigan mentoring twist on the standard pop music talent contest formula, with production of a three song EP at world famous Pearl Sound Studios of Canton, with internationally renowned sound engineer and producer Chuck Alkazian, plus songwriting advice plus artist and repertoire coaching from award-winning artist/producer Nadir Omowale, live performance booking consultation from 2 Stones Events, and in addition to a cash prize and Indie Music Business Coaching from Music Mentor Jill Jack and her new enterprise, Dream Big, Inc. Fifteen semi-finalists, representing a broad range of musical genres and styles will perform on the Main Stage Thursday evening September 1, and Friday evening September 2. Five finalists will perform for the judges on Saturday September 3, with the Grand Prize Winner and Runner-Up headlining the State Fair on Sunday evening September 4.

The Second Annual Michigan State Fair Parade is scheduled for Labor Day, Monday, September 5, 2016 at 10:00 AM, rain or shine. The Detroit Shriners have partnered with the Michigan State Fair for this family fun event; approximately 300 Shriners with their Parade Units will be in attendance! Area residents, businesses, street performers, and community groups are invited to join the fun as the State Fair celebrates Michigan Agriculture, Communities, and Businesses--- and the final holiday weekend of the summer!

2022 Celebrating 10 Years!
– The 10th Annual Michigan State Fair returns this weekend September 1st – 5th in Novi, Michigan at the Suburban Collection Showplace. 2021 Charity Preview Kickoff
The Michigan State Fair presented by Ram Trucks will be kicked off on Wednesday night with a private invite only Charity Sneak Peek where children currently undergoing treatment at local Shriners Hospitals for Children and many other charitable organizations are invited for a special access night of fun before the fair officially opens on Thursday.

World Record Holder Dana Kunze’s High Diving Pirates of the Caribbean High Dive Show is returning to the Michigan State Fair over Labor Day Weekend at the Suburban Collection Showplace. Dana Kunze has been a professional High Diver since the age of 13 and was trained by a fellow World Record Holder, John Tobler. At the age of 16, Dana became the youngest professional diver in the world to dive off of the Famed Cliffs of Acapulco. The dive was featured on ABC Television’s Wide World of Sports and started a decade of appearances on sports programming.

In the midst of a global pandemic where countless cancelled events have eliminated normal opportunities for Michigan youth to demonstrate their skill, mastery and hard work, two state organizations have teamed up to ensure youth across the state can still showcase their accomplishments and projects.
Transition to Virtual Platform
The 2020 Michigan State Fair presented by Ram Trucks, originally scheduled to be held on September 3rd though 7th, will now be transitioning to a virtual platform. The virtual fair will be a free online event campaign that will include hourly social media posts consisting of interactive contests and activities, live demonstrations and performances, historical and educational features, and much more!
