Morgan

Breed Characteristics

  • The Morgan is easily recognized by his proud carriage, upright graceful neck, blended with soundness of limb, athleticism, and stamina.

Saddlebred

Breed Characteristics

  • They are prized for a pleasant temperament, eagerness, strength and stamina.

  • the American Saddlebred is best known for being the ultimate show horse, high stepping and elegant, as he performs his five gaits – the walk, trot, canter, slow gait and rack.

  • American Saddlebreds stand 60 to 68 inches, 152 to 173 cm high.

Quarter Horse

Breed Characteristics

  • These heavily muscled, compact horses could run a short distance over a straightaway faster than any other horse.

  • It is by far the most popular breed and currently boasts a population of about 3.2 million.

  • Standing between 14 and 16 hands, about five-feet-tall at the withers.

 

Pinto

  • The Pinto is separated into five different classifications: stock, hunter, pleasure, saddle and utility.

  • The word pinto is Spanish for "paint".

  • The Pinto horse must exhibit a cumulative four square inches of white coat with underlying pink skin in order for it to classify as a Pinto

  • The American Paint Horse has a muscular and firm neck, a muscular yet short back, strong legs, sloping shoulders, mid-size ears, and intelligent eyes.

  • The American Paint Horse comes in various colors, amongst them, bay, chestnut, black, palomino, gray, buckskin, and blue roan.

Arabian

Breed Characteristics

  • The oldest known breed of riding horse, the Arabian.

  • the Arabians' incredible energy, intelligence and gentle disposition allow riders to excel in most equine sports and activities.

  • Arabian horses spend as much time on the trail as they do at horse shows and other competitive events.

 

Paso-Fino

Breed Characteristics

  • Weight is 700 to 1000 pounds.

  • Every equine color can be found, with or without white markings.

  • It is spirited and responsive under tack while sensible and gentle at hand.

Appaloosa

Breed Characteristics

  • Setting speed records on the race track, excelling at advanced levels of dressage, jumping, games, reining, roping, pleasure, endurance and as gentle family horses.

  • More than half a million Appaloosas are on record.

  • Usually noticed and recognized because of its spots and splashes of color, the abilities and beauty of this breed.

 

Clydesdale

Breed Characteristics

  • 1,700 - 2,200 pounds

  • 16.2 - 18.2 hands

  • While the Clydesdale remained a farm horse, it quickly found its calling as a freight horse because of its size, power, quick way of going and because it attracted attention.

 

Hafinger

Breed Characteristics

  • Haflinger is a small, sturdy chestnut colored horse descended from the Tyrolean ponies of Austria and northern Italy.

  • standing between 13 to 15 hands high.

 

Percherons

Breed Characteristics

  • Percherons range in height from 15 to 19 hands high, most are between 16-2 and 17-3 hands high.

  • They can weigh up to 2600 pounds with the average around 1900.

  • Percherons are noted for heavy muscling in the lower thighs and for an aspect of unusual ruggedness and power.
